Recruitment

On this page, we have gathered information and contacts that can be useful in international recruitment. International House Pori can help you support the settlement of an international employee to the new home city.

Hiring an employee from abroad

If an employer cannot find a suitable candidate in Finland, they can search for employees abroad. However, a separate permit may be required to hire an employee from another country. Foreign employees must have the right to work in Finland and have the same rights and obligations as Finnish employees. Work in Finland provides nationwide advice on international recruitment and work-based immigration.

Work in Finland and the Finnish Immigration Service have jointly produced a guide for employers who want to hire a foreign employee but need guidance on how to start the process. The guide assists employers step-by-step in the application process for a residence permit for an employed person (TTOL) and in the employee’s relocation to Finland. It provides a concise overview of the entire process from start to finish.

International Recruitment Guide

This guide provides detailed information on the various stages of the recruitment process, from planning to the new employee’s start date. It includes sections on international experts, hiring foreign employees, relocation to Finland, and family relocation to Finland. The purpose of the guide is to assist employers in navigating the recruitment process and meeting the needs of international employees.

Recruiting seasonal employees

“In Finland, seasonal workers need to apply for a visa, a certificate, or a residence permit depending on the duration of their employment, which can be up to nine months within a 12-month period. Seasonal work includes agricultural and tourism jobs tied to specific seasons. Workers can only work for the employers mentioned in their permit and need to apply for a new permit if they change employers. For more information about seasonal work, please visit the Finnish Immigration Service website – Seasonal worker’s employer.
